Born Oduka Gerard Joshua, Mc Kash has carved out a niche for himself as one of the most influential comedians and emcees in the region, earning the fitting title “East Africa’s Comedy Next of Kin.”

Mc Kash’s journey into comedy wasn’t accidental. From humble beginnings, he grew to become a pioneer in the Northern Ugandan comedy scene. In 2017, he launched “Laugh with Owakabi” in Gulu, a weekly comedy show that quickly became a cultural staple. The show provided a platform for local talent and attracted international acts like Kenya’s Eric Omondi and Zambia’s African Joker, solidifying its reputation as a premier stage for comedy in East Africa.

What started in Gulu didn’t stay there. Laugh with Owakabi expanded to other towns such as Lira and Kitgum, bringing laughter to thousands and promoting Northern Uganda as a comedy destination. Mc Kash’s shows blend wit, culture, and real-life narratives, connecting with audiences across different backgrounds and age of groups.

In 2022, Mc Kash was crowned Best Regional Comedian at the prestigious Comedy Store Awards, a recognition of his remarkable talent and relentless efforts to elevate regional comedy. This accolade not only celebrated his humor but also honored his role in transforming the entertainment landscape in the north.

Beyond stand-up comedy, Mc Kash Owakabi is a highly sought-after emcee. He has hosted events for musical heavyweights like Jose Chameleone and Bobi Wine, and presided over major brand launches including Uganda Waragi campaigns.
