South Sudan Releases 2024 Certificate of Primary Education (CPE) Examination Results
Juba, April 15, 2025 – The Ministry of General Education and Instruction, through the Office of the Minister, has officially released the 2024 Certificate of Primary Education (CPE) examination results, marking a significant milestone in the country’s education system.
In a press statement signed by Hon. Kuyok Abol Kuyok, Minister of General Education and Instruction and Chairperson of the National Examinations Council, the Ministry announced that a total of 79,010 candidates (43,266 males and 35,744 females) registered for the examinations. Of these, 77,264 candidates (42,257 males and 35,007 females) actually sat for the exams between November 18 and 22, 2024.
Out of those who sat, 73,296 candidates (40,407 males and 32,889 females) passed the exams, representing an impressive pass rate of 94.9%, with a weighted performance index of 73.1.
Performance Highlights
Top Score: 453 marks (achieved by multiple students).
Performance Breakdown:
450 – 500 Marks: 13 candidates
400 – 449 Marks: 24,319 candidates
300 – 399 Marks: 42,368 candidates
250 – 299 Marks: 6,026 candidates
000 – 249 Marks: 878 candidates (failed the exam)
Best Performing Pupils (Top 13)
Leading the list is Felix Lawaka Wani Lube of JCC Hai Negil Primary School, scoring 453 marks. He is followed closely by Moses Jerry Adire Ogoya (452 marks) and Ador Moses Aioch Mayuat (452 marks). Notably, Gifty Chundia Remin Aluwe, one of the top-performing girls, also made it to the overall top list with 451 marks.
Best Performing Girls (Top 14)
The top girls’ list is dominated by students from JCC Model Primary School, including the
leading candidates Gifty Chundia Remin Aluwe and Sabrine Kegi Paulino Francis, both scoring 451 marks. Other notable mentions include Nyamal Khor Paljor Buotham from Hope "B" Primary School and Rena Kafuki Samuel Santino, each scoring 449 marks.
Best Performing Schools
According to the Ministry, the best-performing school based on mean score is:
1. JCC Model Primary School (CES) – 89.1
2. Venus Star Academy - Goroyo Campus (CES) – 87.8
3. JCC Hai Negil Primary School (CES) – 87.6
These institutions were commended for their outstanding commitment to academic excellence and consistent performance.
Subject Performance Analysis
The Ministry also analyzed subject performance across the nation, revealing the following insights:
Top Performing Subjects:
Science (79.9%)
Christian Religious Education – CRE (79.4%)
Underperforming Subjects:
English Language (71.2%)
Mathematics (61.8%)
Islamic Religious Education – IRE (51.3%)
To improve performance in Mathematics and IRE, the Ministry pledged to recruit and train more qualified teachers to deliver these subjects more effectively.
