Khorlai Machol Khorlai better known by his stage name Professor K, The Lecturer was born in Wau on 1st of June 1992 by parents of Dinka Agaar origin. He joined Rumbek Complex Primary School (which was changed to Pendit Primary and now Ager Gum Primary School) in the year 2000 when he was merely 8 years old.
In 2001,his brother took him to Maleng-agok Primary where he finished Standard 2,3 &4 and later returned to Rumbek in 2004 in which he joined Deng Nhial (std 5&6), Comboni(std 7) and Riak Dor Primary School where he sat for Entrance Exams and passed well.
He joined Rumbek National Secondary School in the year 2008 and sat for Sudan Certificate which sent him to Upper Nile University where he studied Economics and Social Studies.
Upon his completion of the aforementioned course, he was given greenlight and employed as Teaching Assistant in the same university which earned him the famous name “Professor K The Lecturer”.
He has been one of the most acclaimed, successful artists in afro music. The recipient of Dungula Music Festival Award has entertained and inspired music fans with his elegant, artistic, deeply soulful music. Professor K, The Lecturer is perhaps best known for his numerous hits.
Professor K, The Lecturer also had many other hit singles and best-selling albums. His other hits as a solo artist include “Lakes State” (which reached #1 in Radio 98 FM).
Professor K, The Lecturer is also known for his acclaimed, hit collaborations with other top artists. Professor K, The Lecturer teamed up with Daniel Dinganyai, Bilpam Akech, Triple P and Killer King.
He rose to fame in 2008 through a talent-search Music Festival which comprised of 26 States held in Dungula, Sudan with a band mobilised by Apollo Majok Makuei in that same year emerged top. Upon his return from Dungula he was exempted by his parents from the band with fears that music career may put his bright future into jeopardy. Professor K agreed to pecking orders and continued with studies.
In 2010 he joined South Sudan Police Service, a move he believes revived and survived his musical career in an interview he held with Hamstar TV. “When I came back from Dungula, my parents advised me not to settle for Music, a career associated with bad stuffs may tarnish family good reputations. I was left with no choice but to heed their order. When I joined Police Force in 2010, my colleagues who were with me in battalion always request me to lead them in morales songs. That was exactly where my singing mode was rejuvenated and a lot people urged me to pursue music” he disclosed to Hamstar Tv.
In December, 2010 he recorded his first track with Nile Star Studio headed by Duop Pur Duop and his producer was MJ Cool. The song went on to be hot on the charts for weeks (Radio 98 FM). This was the turning point in his musical career. He went on and formed Young Police Crew (now World Advisers) in 2013.
This year (November 2020), Professor K, The Lecturer signed Taban Achigam, Co-founder of Hamstar TV as his manager!
