Oliver Chaplain Lemi (Born November 24th1994) in the capital Juba, South Sudan, two years later the rapper moved with his family to Khartoum where he grew up. The South Sudanese gospel rapper, singer, instrumentalist and an entrepreneur is known as Oly, also known as Y.B.M abbreviation for (Young Black Male). A member of the well-known group The Royal Crew (T.R.C).
The uprising star has started at a very young age making music and released his first songs “She Makes Me Wanna Cry” and “My Mother” back in 2012 in Juba, Y.B.M continued releasing tracks in Kampala city such as “Amazing” ft Lil Been and more.
2016 was a turning point in the superstar’s career, on the 14th of November he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and savior as he described in his own words: “I was just a rapper and a singer before I got born again but after my conversion everything changed. I started gospel rap. Being a rapper and a singer who is Christian is a responsibility for myself, and my assignment to use the talent and the gift that God bestowed upon me to preach the good news, encourage, share testimonies, praise and worship God, spread the message of love and peace through music”.
The newly married Christian rapper and his beautiful wife Margret had their marriage on July 19th this year, can play instruments (Guitar, piano) and released his first gospel songs titled “Thank You Lord and Jesus Is Everywhere.” Back in 2016. A year later, 2017 was the return of YBM to Juba from India. Resumed his musical career independently along with The Royal Crew.
The young rapper revealed the name of his first official album titled” New Man.” The EP is containing 10 solid songs, saying the official track list will be revealed to the public soon. The young rapper is known with his excellent flows and amazing lyrics (English mixed with the local Arabic language.)
His music is having a wide acceptance also criticism from fans all over the country, regarding this matter earlier this year the superstar stated: "Most youths think of church as a boring place to be at, and surrendering one’s life to Jesus means becoming a pastor, which is an incorrect perspective. I want the world to know that Christianity is a lifestyle whereby one can do all things through Christ, in Christ and for Christ.”
